This weekend saw success for the U23 Irish duo of Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove in the 49er Sailing World Championships.

The two 19-year-olds played a stormer to claim the u23 world title in Marseille, France. The pair were in the lead going into the final day of the five-day event. But the finish was a tight one, they experienced a gear failure in race 10 of the series and just managed to scrape home in 9th. They managed to regroup and win the next race in style, claiming their second win of the series in the 52 boat fleet.

The win caps off a fantastic summer for Team Ireland. In July, Liam Glynn claimed a bronze medal in the u21 Laser World Championships.
