This week we are loving the compact, lightweight, water resistant and toasty warm Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket.
Price: €229
Rab is the brand you go to when you want quality, style and most importantly assurance when playing in the mountains. It’s oh so worth spending those extra few bucks to go with a quality brand like them when you’re free-soloing up a cliff or bunking down in high altitude.
Lightweight Down Jackets: 5 of the Best
Its Microlight Alpine Jacket is no exception to its superb reputation. The big appeal of it is just how lightweight it is, making it perfect for layering. Plus it dries extremely quickly when wet. The weight also means it is super compact and can easily be stuffed in the corner of your rucksack without taking up too much space. It’s down so it will keep you warm and is also way more water resistant than your average down jacket. It’s not just tightly woven but Rab have used water resistant Pertex Quantum Microlight face fabric combined with DWR coating and NikWax treated hydrophobic 750-fill power down to make sure it repels water.
It’s uber comfortable and wearable year round as your mid layer or outer layer depending on what the elements throw at you. It comes in three alternatives; hooded, non-hooded and gilet. The hood has a wire peak, which is great for keeping the wind out. The style is super simple, just two pockets at the waist and a chest pocket, plus nice big pull zips. We just love it!
