In some random news this morning, Michael Healy-Rae’s bicycle has been robbed. And he is not happy about it.
All of us cycle commuters in Dublin know all to well the fear of leaving your bike unattended (even when locked) on the streets of Dublin. The Kerry TD left his bicycle unlocked outside the Passport Office yesterday morning and it was nabbed. He took to Twitter to post his annoyance in a post worthy of Liam Neeson’s Taken performance, stating that he was “looking for” the thief and “I will find you and it will be a sorry day for you that you ever decided to mess with me and my property”. He later tweeted, “If the thief sends it back now that will be the end of it.”

He told the Journal.ie that he has reported the theft to the gardaí but that he is not holding out much hope of tracking down the culprits. He said, “The reason I reported it is because I’m always standing up in the Dáil and criticising because the crime stats are wrong. A lot of people are victims of crime but don’t report it, particularly in rural areas. You should let the gardaí know what happened to you.”
