Sport Ireland Outsider Awards 11th Feb 2026

The Outsider Awards, sponsored by Sport Ireland, are a celebration of everything that makes the Irish outdoors extraordinary.

From Antarctic marathon wins, world-record-breaking runs, to swimming and running around Ireland, rewilding landscapes, and building inclusive outdoor communities, the awards recognise the people who have shaped the last 12 months of Irish adventure.

This year’s nominees include trailblazers like Becky Gilmore, who skated the Wild Atlantic Way end to end; Darragh Morgan, completing his epic swim around Ireland; and Catríona Jennings, whose 100-mile world-record performance redefined endurance running. Alongside them are environmental and inclusion heroes like Jack Morely, who is documenting the rewilding of his land in Wicklow, Brian from Tonnta Adventures, who is creating experiences that are as inclusive as they are inspiring and of course, our incredible Youth nominees like the inspiring 8-year-old Lochlynn Kenny, who, when he isn’t competing in mountain running race, volunteers his weekends and school holidays to marshall races for others.

The nominees at the Sport Ireland Outsider Awards are climbers, runners, swimmers, environmental stewards, organisers, and everyday adventurers who embody what it means to explore, protect, and belong in the outdoors.
