It certainly is an exciting time to be an adventure racer in Ireland. The New Year will see more races than ever before coming to the Irish scene, including TEAR, Shamrock, DAR, and The Beast, which means that if you’re a newbie or a seasoned veteran, 2019 is the year you want to sign up for as many races as you can!
The Beast Adventure Race, which is Ireland’s longest running (as well as longest in length) race, will be held from 30 May to 2 June 2019 next year and will once again feature in the Adventure Racing European Series (ARES).
This race is arguably the toughest in Ireland. The race spans 2.5 days (60 hours) and 400km across Ireland’s northwest region. Teams of four people will mountain bike, trail run, hike, kayak, and even swim and encounter ropes obstacles over the course of the race.
The Beast challenges the best teams in Europe in all disciplines of adventure racing and provides an opportunity for beginners to strengthen their skills, all while navigating some of Ireland’s most scenic and beautiful landscapes.
Entries open on 17 December and are €1,500 per team. Entry fees include the cost of 2 nights in the Clayton Hotel, Co Sligo for the first 15 teams (Race Headquarters), logistical support throughout the race, airport transfers, maps, online support, and more.
