Another great year for the legendary Liffey Swim, that took place in Dublin’s City Centre over the weekend.
Over 500 swimmers turned out in their togs to take part in the 98th Jones Engineering Dublin City Liffey swim on Saturday last. Swimming the 2.2 kilometres from Watling Street Bridge to the finish line at the Custom House.

An engineer in Dublin Corporation came up with the idea way back in 1920, to prove that the water in the Liffey was of good quality. Since its inception, it has become a much loved day out by locals and tourists alike to see the brave souls take to the murky waters of the Liffey on a chilly autumns day to race.

Anne Marie Bourke of Dublin Swimming Club won the women’s race in a time of 33 minutes and 48 sec (handicap: 2 mins) and Colin Monaghan of Dublin Swimming Club won the men’s race in a time of 36 minutes (handicap: 30 seconds).
