EcoTrail Wicklow Course Highlights: From Bray Seafront to Wicklow’s Wild Heart

EcoTrail Wicklow’s routes are a masterclass in variety. Each distance, 10km, 19km, 30km, 46km, and the legendary 80km, offers its own journey through Wicklow’s most scenic terrain. Runners will take in a mix of coastal paths, rolling hills, forest tracks, and mountain trails. Expect panoramic sea views, bursts of golden gorse, and the greenery that gives Wicklow its name as the garden of Ireland.
The 10km route, introduced just last year, has already proved a hit, especially with its new 12pm start time, making it easier for groups running different distances to travel together. Meanwhile, the 80km ultra, which showcases the very best of Wicklow’s trails, is already close to selling out.
What Makes EcoTrail Wicklow So Great

EcoTrail Wicklow isn’t just a race, it’s a celebration of trail running in Ireland. The weekend kicks off with “The Gathering” at Bray’s legendary Harbour Bar, a relaxed evening of inspiring talks and Q&A with top trail and mountain runners from Ireland and beyond. This year’s theme, Adversity and Adventure, promises stories of grit, determination, and unforgettable moments on the mountains.
The atmosphere is fuelled by a sense of camaraderie you won’t find in many road races. From the shared pre-race nerves at the start line to the post-run pint at the finish, EcoTrail is as much about the people as the paths.
A Strong Line-Up of Sponsors

The event’s ethos of wellness, sustainability, and adventure is reflected in its partners. Nobó, known for their all-natural, plant-based treats, joins as the official nutrition partner for 2025, providing the perfect guilt-free fuel for trail runners.
Dynafit continues its sponsorship this year. A brand born out of the mountains, Dynafit make top-quality footwear and apparel for your trail adventures. They will have a stall at EcoTrail again this year for you to pick up some race-day essentials or pick up some new kit!
Wicklow Wolf Brewery returns with their well-earned finish line beers, served in custom EcoTrail tankards that have become a badge of honour.
The brand new EcoTrail Recce Run Series, in partnership with Nobó, Wicklow Wolf, and InnerFight, will offer three free, but ticketed, guided runs on sections of the course, complete with expert advice, shoe testing from Dynafit, delicious snacks, and spot prizes. The final “Shakeout Run” will finish with a rejuvenating yoga session at Wicklow Wolf Brewery.
Also joining the sponsor roster this year is Reign Storm Clean Energy Drinks, bringing an extra burst of refreshment to race weekend.
Inclusive for Every Runner

One of EcoTrail Wicklow’s biggest draws is its accessibility. Whether you’re lacing up for your first trail race or adding another ultra to your tally, there’s a distance for you. The varied terrain and multiple race lengths mean the event attracts everyone, from parkrun regulars to seasoned mountain goats.
The Recce Run Series is also a fantastic entry point for those new to trail running. With expert guidance, course previews, and a supportive atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to gain confidence before race day.
Wicklow: The Perfect Backdrop

Known as “the Garden of Ireland,” Wicklow is a dream location for an event like this. The routes showcase the county’s diverse landscapes, from the breezy Bray seafront to lush valleys and rugged uplands. September’s crisp air and golden light add an extra touch of magic, making for unforgettable running.
Post race, the celebrations spill over into Bray, where runners, friends, and family can enjoy the local food, live music, and coastal charm.
