The Leatherman Skeletool is designed to be compact enough to carry with you on a daily basis while also being functional enough to be worthwhile carrying on a daily basis. We have been using the Leatherman Skeletool as our multi-tool for the past week here is what we think of it.
An overview
The Leatherman Skeletool has 7 unique tools making it one of the more streamlined multi-tools Leathermen offers. This makes it an excellent option for daily use. It is compact and ultralight weighing only 5 oz. In spite of its small footprint and form factor, the Leatherman Skeletool is extremely functional for daily use. It is also exceptionally easy to carry thanks to a strong pocket clip.
What we like
We have already mentioned the fact that we are a fan of the compact nature of this multi-tool. However, there are specific features that we have been enjoying most on the Leatherman Skeletool.
The combo knife
The blade is easily accessible and can be opened and closed one-handed, which is often required in daily life. It is a sharp semi-serrated, semi-fine-edge blade that has a strong liner lock for added security.
The wire cutters
At the base of the pliers, there is a hard wire and regular wire cutter that has proved very useful for us over the past week.
Since the Leatherman Skeletool has become part of our daily life we have really been enjoying the multiple ways you can carry the Leatherman Skeletool. The carabiner clip at the base of the tool is great for quickly stowing it and the strong pocket clip on the side is an excellent, neat longer term storage solution.
Who is it for?
We think that the Leatherman Skeletool would be an excellent first multi-tool. Perhaps it would be a good Christmas present for the outdoor enthusiast in your life. The Leatherman Skeletool would also be brilliant for the outdoor enthusiast that already has a “does it all” multi-tool. The Skeletool is paired back and lightweight, making it a complementary tool for their kit.
Looking for that “does it all” tool? We would recommend looking at the Leatherman Surge.
Looking for an outdoor-specific alternative? We would recommend looking at the Leatherman Signal.
