135km. 1650m elevation gain. Over 4 of Kerry’s most famous mountain passes. Are you up for this cycling challenge?Â
Velo Kenmare is a new and exciting 135K timed cycle on the 22nd of October 2022 starting and finishing in Kenmare County Kerry. This event is designed to challenge cyclists where they are, with no mass start this event is not a race. However, it is timed from start to finish as well as having 4 timed “King Of The Mountain” segments. This sets the event apart from the purely completion-based cycling challenges we regularly see on the calendar. This semi-competitive approach to this cycling challenge in an interesting place. The event would be a great option for cyclists who have never raced but want to challenge themselves and see where they stack up competitively on a very challenging course.
The Best Cycling Roads In Wicklow
The event costs 75 euro (+booking fee). This includes a 20 euro voucher to be used in participating restaurants, cafés, pubs, and shops in Kenmare! This is a great way of encouraging people to support the local businesses at the event which we love. There is also a 10 euro license fee if you are not already a member of Cycling Ireland.
The registration fee also covers a fully marshaled event, timing chip, medical cover, mechanical support, hot food at the finish, and music and entertainment at the start and finish. You will also receive a finisher’s cowbell and water bottle. We think this sounds well worth it!
