Outsider events at Wander Wild
We have been wanting to host an event at Wander Wild for years we are delighted to be bringing 2 unique events of our own to the festival this year, adding to the already incredible line-up of events.
1. Trail Running Workshop with International Trail Runner Matthew McConnell

Join us for a hands-on Trail Running Masterclass in the stunning surroundings of Tomies Woods, led by international trail runner Matthew McConnell. This is not a lecture-style session; it’s a practical, movement-based workshop designed to help you feel more confident and efficient on trails.
Throughout the session, we’ll focus on real-world trail skills across varied terrain. Expect coaching on climbing and descending techniques, pacing on technical ground, and how to move efficiently over roots, rocks and uneven surfaces. Along the way, we’ll also open up conversations around training structure, race preparation, and fuelling strategies for long days on the mountains.
This session is ideal for runners who want to build confidence on the trails or unlock the next level in their trail running. This is also perfect for road runners looking to sharpen their technique and move more efficiently in the mountains.
We will complete a 6-10km run with stops to focus on drills, technique, and to chat about how to nail race day.
2. Ellie Berry’s Vandeleur-Lynam Round Screening & Live Outsider Podcast

In the summer 2023, Ellie Berry made history when she broke the record for climbing every mountain over 600m in Ireland. Experience the premier screening of Ellie Berry’s record-breaking completion of the Vandeleur-Lynam Round, one of Ireland’s most demanding mountain challenges.
The screening will be followed by a live Outsider podcast recording and Q&A session with Ellie Berry. Explore the physical preparation, mental resilience, logistics, and support network required to complete a challenge of this scale.
This is more than a film screening; it’s a deep dive into what drives people to take on big mountain objectives and what they learn about themselves along the way. Expect honest conversation, behind-the-scenes stories, and the chance to ask questions directly.

Traditional Irish Boat Tour
“Brilliant Day”
Richard from Ireland on 27-03-2024 ★★★★★

The day started wet but the chat and stories with Donal on the boat helped up forget about the rain. He was brilliant, so knowledgeable and funny. The walk itself is beautiful and well worth doing. Great day and will definitely do again.
Hike in the Reeks
“A great challenge! Fantastic guides”
Sophie from Ireland on 26-03-2024 ★★★★★
We had a great day on Sunday climbing Carrauntoohil. The weather was very Irish lots of rain and mist but that didn’t take away from the hike at all. The guides Richie & Eamon were great- the pace is always manageable with plenty of small breaks. I’ve done both routes up Carrauntoohil with Wander Wild festival in 2022 & this year- I’d thoroughly recommend it & will do it again myself.
