Outsider’s Adventurous Itinerary
1. Sunrise Swim & Sauna
Start the day as you want to continue with an unforgettable Sunrise Swim at Dundag with the Salty Sea Sisters. At this amazing swim spot not only will you immerse yourself in the wild waters of the national park, but you will also be able to enjoy stunning views of Purple Mountain and the McGillicuddy’s Reeks in the morning light. The Salty Sea Sisters always bring an inclusive vibe to this sunrise dip. Dundag is a beautiful sandy beach, making entry into the water easy.
And, if you want to go one better, then we highly recommend a post dip sauna with Samhradh’s Sauna overlooking the lake. A blissful way to kickstart the festival!
2. Coomloughra Horseshoe

One of the more challenging and underrated hikes in the country is the Coomloughra Horseshoe. This route summits all of the three 1000-meter mountains in Ireland; Benkeeragh, Caher, and of course the mighty Carrauntoohil. The terrain on this hike is rough and unpredictable with a few moderately exposed ridges. We would encourage you only to take on this hike if you have good prior experience in the mountains. If you want something a little easier while still immersing yourself in the mountains, try one of the many guided hikes on offer at the festival. If you’re up for the challenge, this will be one of your outdoor highlights of 2025 we can guarantee it! The expert local guides will make you feel at ease throughout the hike and will also use the opportunity to teach you a few tips and skills that they have acquired through decades of mountaineering.
Make sure you pack your camera and best boots for this hike. The views are epic and the terrain is wild!
3. Inisfallen Kayak Tour

Rounding off our outdoor activities for the day we would take to Lough Leane for a mellow and beautiful kayak tour from Ross Castle to Inisfallen Island. On Inisfallen Island you will get to see the monastery that was once home to the High King of Ireland, Brian Boru, in the seventh century. There are so many more amazing pieces of information about this island but you’ll have to attend this tour to find out more!
4. Fireside Chats
The only thing better than rounding off a day of outdoor adventures sitting in a pub with a drink recounting the stories from your day outdoors, is doing so with some of the heroes of the Irish outdoors. The Fireside Chats event at Wander Wild is the perfect blend of live podcast, meet and greet and pint at the local. In previous years Wander Wild have attracted some incredible outdoor athletes and personalities to this event. The only way to round off your day at Wander Wild.
