Flowstate Swim Festival

The first year of the Flowstate Open Water Festival was a great success. The festival celebrated Ireland’s stunning coast with a mix of races, talks, and film screenings, all of which celebrated the incredible open-water activities on the East Coast. Held in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, this festival provided a feeling of deep connection with nature as well as a vibrant community spirit.

National Trail Conference

Ireland’s first National Trail Conference, hosted by Leitrim Development Company in partnership with the ILDN and Rural Recreational Officers, was a resounding success in 2024. The event began with Leitrim’s largest outdoor recreational activity, The Carrick Camino, and continued with a variety of outdoor adventures on Day 2, including the Lough Key Triathlon, guided walks, foraging workshops, and more. Attendees gathered to hear inspiring keynote speeches, explore exhibitions, and participate in trail-building workshops. The conference fostered meaningful connections among outdoor enthusiasts and showcased innovative approaches to trail development.

L’Étape Ireland

L’Étape Ireland brought the excitement of the Tour de France to Irish soil, challenging cyclists with stunning routes through the breathtaking landscapes around Killarney. Riders of all levels, from beginners to pros, all tested their limits and enjoyed a lively festival atmosphere with world tour-inspired touches, including timed King Of The Mountain sections and much more.

EcoTrail Wicklow

EcoTrail Wicklow drew runners from near and far to experience the beauty of the Wicklow Mountains. With distances for all abilities, from 10km to 80km, the event provided breathtaking trails and a chance to embrace the challenge of mountain running in the stunning Wicklow Mountains.

Coast2Coast IMRA

The Coast2Coast race took runners on an unforgettable 600km journey across Ireland this year. This Irish Mountain Running Association race showcased the country’s diverse terrains and natural beauty, leaving participants with lasting memories. The route followed the Wicklow Way, The South Leinster Way, The East Munster Way, The Blackwater (Avondhu) Way and the Kerry Way as participants made their way from Bray Head in Wicklow to Bray Head on Valentia Island. An epic event!

Lakeland Gravel Grinder

The Lakeland Gravel Grinder was one of the island’s only gravel events this year. Over 600 cyclists took to the start line this year in their three distances – 100km, 60km and 50km. This brutal event is a must-do for all off-road cyclists in Ireland!

Sea to Summit for MND Charity Event

The Sea to Summit challenge was the brainchild of legendary Irish paddler Adrian Harkin who unfortunately passed away during the summer. This nationwide charity event inspired participants to journey along Ireland’s coastline and up its majestic peaks. The event successfully raised over €105,000 for Motor Neuron Disease charities. The multisport event combined adventure with a meaningful cause, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
