There are very few brands that can compete with Petzl when it comes to head torches. And we are particularly fond of their Petzl ACTIK® CORE. If you are an avid trail runner, camper or multi-day racer, there is no point in buying a flimsy headtorch from the pound shop, this is a product worth investing in.
This hybrid head torch is a bright burner at 350 lumens and has two preset brightness levels. Our favourite feature is the inclusion of a rechargeable battery, boasting a good burn time of seven hours with standard power. You can also power up on the go via the micro USB port making it a top performer among rechargeable options. It is compatible with standard batteries too without the need for an adapter.
It’s a pretty versatile headlamp with the option for red lighting to preserve night vision and a reflective headband helps you to be seen when a light is shone on it. It is also equipped with an emergency whistle for rescue situations. Its only drawback is that it has and at IPX 4 water resistance rating, so it does not protect from submersion, so don’t go swimming with it on!
You can also buy a Noctilight with it which is a carrying case that diffuses the light into lantern mode. Super handy to hang off the roof of your tent when camping.
