Ireland’s adventure tourism sector will gather this November at the 2024 IAAT Adventure Tourism Conference, hosted at the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. With two packed days of activities, networking, and industry insights, this event promises to be a highlight of the year for tourism professionals across Ireland.

Day 1: Adventure Awaits

Wednesday, 27th November

The first day offers an action-packed lineup of activities showcasing the stunning natural beauty and thrilling opportunities Kerry has to offer. Attendees can choose from four immersive experiences:

  • E-Biking: A full-day exploration of Kerry’s countryside on electric bikes.
  • Horse-Riding & Kayaking: Ride through Killarney National Park and paddle around Ross Castle.
  • Hiking Carrauntoohil: Tackle Ireland’s highest peak with expert guides.
  • Cycling & Kayaking: Combine two dynamic activities for a true Kerry adventure.

These engaging experiences run from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, providing participants with a taste of the best adventure tourism in the region.

Evening Networking and Showcase

That evening, the focus shifts to business and community with a structured B2B networking event from 5:30 pm. Activity operators, tour organizers, and other stakeholders will gather to explore opportunities for collaboration.

At 7:00 pm, the Kerry Tourism Showcase will highlight the county’s unique offerings, from hotels and restaurants to chocolatiers and breweries. With live music and a vibrant atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting to connect and celebrate the local tourism industry.

Thursday, 28th November

The second day shifts gears to discussions and presentations, featuring some of the most influential voices in Irish tourism.

  • Opening Remarks: Brendan Kenny (CEO, IAAT) and Colin Wolfe (Chair, IAAT) will set the tone.
  • The State of Irish Tourism: Eoghan O’Mara Walsh (CEO, ITIC) will offer an overview of the current landscape.
  • Panels and Discussions:
    • Of Land, Air & Sea: Reflecting on the activity tourism sector with top operators like Pat Falvey and Jamie Flannery.
    • Dúchas, Dualgas agus Fiontar: Exploring the role of community, ecology, and culture in shaping the future of tourism.

Other sessions include updates on Blueways and Coillte’s initiatives, insights into AI marketing for tourism, and a keynote by Dermot Whelan, meditation expert and bestselling author.

The day concludes with a final networking session, offering tea, coffee, and a chance to connect before the conference wraps.
