If you are in search of something different to do in Dublin, then SUP yoga may be the very thing.

Love yoga? Love stand up paddle boarding? Why not combine the two, and try SUP yoga? Surfdock down on the Grand Canal dock has sessions every Saturday and we went along recently to try it out for ourselves.

The Docklands is a little-hidden adventure hub where Wakedock and Surfdock have made themselves at home. Bringing a bit of adventure back into the city, they have wakeboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, and SUP all on offer. Today we will try out their SUP yoga!

We picked a bad day for it weather wise, but the rain does not dampen our spirits! We hang out in the hub until the skies finally clear, pulling on our wetsuits quickly and after a little introduction on how to stand up paddle board, we are off out on to the water. Cruising on beautifully calm waters that anyone could SUP on it… yoga, on the other hand, might be a different story. We paddle out and anchor down for an hour long yoga session on the water.

Stand up paddle boarding: 10 of the best spots to sup in Ireland

And what a session it was. Nothing will help you connect with your core more than the threat of falling into frigid Irish waters! Instructor Alexa von Zett is a delight and at €25 per class or a four-week course for €80, it’s really something worth trying! There is really no better way to keep yourself in the moment than by stretching on a floating mat.

Namaste.
