This stunning Red Bull edit ‘The Way of The Wildcard’ about Paul and Gary O’Donovan, the two brothers from Skibbereen in West Cork who won silver in the Olympics, will make you proud to be Irish.

The 13-minute documentary masterfully captures the brittle Irish humour, the jeering, plaumasing and the craic. But also the pure grit and determination of these two underdogs that won Ireland’s first Olympic medal in rowing, a silver in lightweight double sculls in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The mini-documentary captures Skibbereen’s eccentric characters from Steve Redmond, the first person in history to swim the Oceans 7, Sean who has the world record for the most bras open in a minute, Dominic their coach who is a volunteer and of course, the many other characters involved in the mighty Skibbereen rowing club.

This is something special. It really captures the beauty of small-town Ireland. You’ll laugh out loud, fill with pride and watch this gem of an edit about two boys ‘From the Back of Beyond’ again and again.
