If you are looking for something to do the weekend of 24-25 February 2018, get yourself to Westport, Co. Mayo for The Irish Adventure Film Festival & Tour.
Two days packed to the gills with adventure edits to inspire, two great speakers and of course a massive afterparty! There’s no better way to celebrate the adventure community, be inspired and to have a bit of craic then heading along to The Irish Adventure Film Festival & Tour on 24-25 February 2018.
On the Saturday night at 5.30pm former National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Alastair Humphreys will take to the stage at W Cinema in Westport for a talk that will inspire the socks off you (I’ve heard him speak before, he’s a good one!). He’s cycled around the world, walked across India and rowed the Atlantic. He popularised the idea of microadventures and has written nine books, so he knows a thing or two about adventure.
On Sunday at 2.30pm Shane Young from Killary Harbour will be there to regale you with tales of his 22-day kayak and hike through the Chiribiquete National Park in southern Colombia. Shane became the first Irishman to reach 10,000-year-old rock paintings in the Colombian jungle, surviving fist-sized spiders, jaguar encounters and crippling hunger.
The Irish Adventure Film Festival & Tour has one guiding principle, “To inspire people to get outside and undertake their own adventures. No matter how small.” And we here at Outsider wholeheartedly agree with that outlook.
There are still tickets available here, so grab a few pals and head west for the weekend!
