Canalaphonic has been around for three successful years and is going from strength to strength. This cracker of a festival takes place over a weekend from Friday through to Sunday, along Dublin’s Grand Canal.
What is Canalphonic?
Canalphonic is a yearly festival which in Portobello Square and across Rathmines. The three-day event incorporates music, art, sports and water. With an urban market, live gigs and boat trips, it’s all about getting outdoors and immersing oneself in as much culture as possible.
The three-day festival sees musicians perform across 14 different venues around the city. On Saturday, Portobello Square comes alive with a variety of activities and performances for all ages.
The Canalphonic Market
The Canal Bank Market, one of the centrepieces of the festival, offers a wide range of produce from food, arts, crafts and clothing by local artists and designers.
Canalphonic Lineup
Independent music and arts will dominate, with 120 acts lined up to perform including names like Rocstrong, The Eskies, Zaska, Mongrel State, Barq, Mongoose, and many more. It’ll be like a mini electric picnic!
There will be photography and art exhibitions, spoken word performances, opera, theatre and culture galore. A Kids Zone at St. Marys College offering a biodiversity village, kids fencing, face painting, a children’s entertainer and a bouncing castle. There will also be boat trips along the canal courtesy of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland.
