Ireland’s Killian Callaghan has won the Under 21 Enduro World Series.
Killian Callaghan has claimed the title of 2017’s Under 21 Enduro World Series World Champion, making the 20-year-old Ireland’s first ever Enduro World Series Champion.
The latest race in the World Series kicked off in Whistler, Canada on Sunday last. This particular race is thought to be the toughest one-day mountain bike enduro in the world. This didn’t phase Killian however, as he scored a top placing in all five stages throughout the day. After placing second overall in Sunday’s race, he has now scored enough points to put himself in an unbeatable position.
Speaking after the race Killian says: “Absolutely buzzing with my result in Whistler today. To win the World Championship is a dream come true, I have to say a huge thanks to everyone who’s been supporting me during the year.” The Dublin native took up mountain biking just four years ago and worked hard to compile his own sponsors, all the while holding down a full-time job.
2017 is the fifth year of the Enduro World Series with eight rounds taking the riders to New Zealand, Tasmania, Madeira, Ireland, France, USA and Canada. Only one round remains, which will kick off in Italy come September.
Massive congratulations to Killian!
