Take a look at this stunning set of images from Valerie O’Sullivan from this years The Kerry Way Ultra Marathon.
The Kerry Way Ultra Marathon is one of the toughest races on the Irish Ultra calendar; a 40 hour, 200km, non-stop Ultra Marathon which traverses the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and the Iveragh Peninsula.
This year, 70 elite runners took to the start line at dawn to tough it out in the rugged wilderness of Kerry. Barry Hartnett from Tipperary took the win, completing the course in an incredible time of 22 hours and 36 minutes, knocking over two hours off the previous record.
Killarney’s Sean Clifford followed him in second place with a time of 27 hours and 18 minutes. Carol Morgan was the first woman home, finishing fourth overall in a time of 27 hours and 58 minutes.
